Cilfynydd V Ferndale

Ferndale’s first home game of the season resulted in their first victory of the league season. The match was hard fought and keenly contested throughout.

Barry took the initiative and their pack drove a maul to score a converted try during the first quarter. Ferndale rallied strongly and good concerted play led to Jon Sanigar driving over near the posts for Daniel Coleman to easily convert leaving the score 7-7 at half time.

Ferndale had the edge and greater all round game which came to prominence after the interval; leading to Ian Edwards scoring a well taken try. Barry relying on their forward effort fought back and scored their second try from a driving maul to level the score. Ferndale then regained territorial advantage and Coleman won the game converting a difficult penalty chance.

Ferndale will hope to consolidate their recent good form when they entertain Taffs Well at Greenwood Park next Saturday.

This win comes after two good performances in the Konica Minolta and Mid District cups against good opposition resulting in marginal wins in both games. Good to see concise play coming to the fore with three back to back wins.
