Match program Inserts for Ferndale v Taffs Well 20th October 2007
We
welcome you all – supporters, members, Vice Presidents and visitors - to
our next home game of the 2007/2008 season in Division 4 South East, and
also extend the heartiest of welcomes to our friends from Taffs Well
RFC.
Taffs
Well RFC had an up-and-down season in 2006/2007, finishing eighth in
what proved to be a very close league that year. This season, however,
Taffs Well have had a successful start, winning three out of their four
opening league games against Barry, Dowlais, and against Cilfynydd last
week (their only loss coming at the hands of Llandaff North). They are
also looking forward to a Konica Minolta Cup first round tie at home to
Trebanos. We wish you all the best - welcome to you all.
Ferndale
RFC, however, are now getting back to winning ways. After three straight
defeats in the league at the start of the season, we began to turn
things around with wins away to Birchgrove and Cefn Coed in the Konica
Minolta Cup and Mid District Cup respectively (in the next round of each
competition, we face two tough away ties – Kenfig Hill in the KM Cup and
Beddau in the Mid District). And, last week, that vital first league
victory came against a dogged Barry RFC side, with Ferndale battling on
to win 15-12. Tries from Ian Edwards and Jon Sanigar, and a penalty from
captain Daniel Coleman, secured the win for Ferndale. However, the
victory was marred by a nasty neck injury to Ashley Coates, and we wish
him all the best for a speedy and full recovery. And no doubt the boys
will be fired up to continue with this winning streak, to try and prove
that our shaky start to the season was nothing but a blip. We’re all
behind you, boys;
GOOD
LUCK!!!
We hope
you all enjoy today’s events, both at the clubhouse and on the field,
and trust that all spectators will conduct themselves in an orderly
manner pitchside.
In
addition, the World Cup Final will be shown at the clubhouse tonight
(kick off at
8:00pm).
Come on in for a pint and give all your support to South Africa in their
attempt to take the cup away from England!
Finally,
our usual massive “Thank
You”
to all our main sponsors, including
D.T.
CIVILS,
SOLAR WINDOWS
and
EBTEK,
and to all others who make a valued and much appreciated contribution to
Ferndale RFC - we couldn’t do it without you all!
Welcome
